Therapy/Coaching/Personal Growth

ITC Director Jared Scherz has released two new books on therapy and relationships.

Individual Therapy
This modality is for men and women interested in working on intra- and interpersonal issues that are interfering with achieving happiness. By raising awareness of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, a greater sense of wholeness is possible. Both men and women learn to recognize how they create resistance to change and are supported in your choices to reaching your goals.

Couples/Marital Therapy
Therapy can help couples restore their intimacy and commitment. Partners use this therapeutic model when they experience emotional distance within the relationship and problems ensue. Sometimes continuous conflict brings a heightened state of tension. At other times one of the partners becomes over involved with work, children, or even unhealthier coping mechanisms such as gambling, affairs, and alcohol/drug use. Life partners can develop new insights and learn different behavioral patterns to repair “broken” and strained bonds.

Family Therapy
Families are a unique unit with complex communication patterns and roles. It is usual that tension within the family is experience more strongly by one family member voicing a concern about the family as a whole. Family therapy is the preferred approach when presented with systemic issues within the immediate family and sometimes to the extended family. Working together as a family in therapy can help the family find a balance that supports the needs of each and every member.

Group Therapy
Link to Group Blogs
Group therapy is ideal for both men and women wanting to improve their sense of meaningfulness. Through this experiential group experience, members begin to explore who they are in relation to others. Opportunities to give and receive support, experiment with new ways of relating, and understand blocks to gaining intimacy are created and explored.

Child/Adolescent Therapy
Therapy is helpful for all ages of children who have difficulty expressing themselves verbally. Play therapy for younger children offers the opportunity for children to work through trauma, build self-esteem, and regain control in their lives. Parents are encouraged to learn this modality in order to apply the techniques themselves.

Coaching
Coaching, a specialized mentor strategizing and encouraging their protégé or team, was once an activity meant only for athletes, sport teams, and physical endeavors. Now coaching principles have been applied to all areas of personal and work life with great success. Its popularity has exploded throughout the country due to its effectiveness. Coaching can be utilized to help you tackle all or any part of the process to enable you to reach your dreams, goals, and objectives.

Although coaching adheres to the same confidentiality as therapy, it is not therapy. Coaching helps you strategize an action plan to move forward. It is not concerned with past history (as therapy may be) but focused on the present and future (your vision, plan, and support).

Types of coaching include:
• Executive Coaching: A consultation with managers, supervisors, and leaders aspiring to improve their skills, techniques, and personal satisfaction.
• Life Coaching: Specializes in relational, social, and other personal goals.
• Job Coaching: Focuses on employment related issues, such as:
• Skill building
• Work esteem
• Professional development

Benefits to Massage
We have a headache, and we rub our heads. We have a pain in our shoulders and we massage our shoulders. We do it without even thinking, touching ourselves where it hurts is instinctual. Touch is a way we communicate and care for ourselves and others. Massage is powerful healer.

In addition to feeling wonderfully relaxed during and after a massage, a massage works and releases with the energy in our bodies helping to reduce tension and stress. We invite you to take care of yourself and take advantage of the many lingering benefits a massage provides:

• Reduce stress © Relief from chronic pain
• Alleviate depression/anxiety © Reduced swelling an inflammation
• Reduce pain © Boost the immune system
• Improve blood circulation © Help you look and feel younger
• Better digestion and intestinal function © Release energies in the body
• Increased mobility in joints © Relief from chronic pain

Yoga

Many of us believe yoga is an exercise program that will make us strong and flexible. Although yoga produces these results, the ancient philosophy of yoga’s core is on the spiritual development of the individual.

Why Yoga
The philosophy of working the body through a series of movements in time, in tandem with the breath, connects us to our spirit and inner wisdom.

The benefits of yoga have been researched and in addition to feeling terrific it can also boost your immune system.

The good feeling of doing Yoga can be experienced immediately after the first program and for days following. Most people experience an “opening” of the body in conjunction with a relaxing, peaceful sensation.

What Can I Expect/What Do I Need to Begin

Whether you are a beginner or advanced student of yoga, everyone benefits on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level -- propelling you towards living well.ITC’s yoga classes encompass all of these aspects, but we invite you to decide what to bring into your life.

All classes begin with centering and breath work followed by warm ups, Class Calendar
postures, and relaxation/meditation at the end. Class requirements are an open mind and heart (flexibility and strength are not necessary to begin classes).

Nutrition Therapy

What does “good nutrition” really mean? This term continues to take on newer meaning with advancements in science and technology. Nutritionists have known for decades the importance of good nutrition for managing diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. But advances in nutrition research have uncovered more about “good nutrition” and the strong interconnection of the mind, body, and spirit.

Nutrition has been linked to anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders in addition to medical conditions and disease.

Why Nutrition Therapy?
A good nutrition assessment and plan:
• Evaluates current lifestyles and patterns
• Identifies areas of strength and weakness
• Customizes your plan to your unique needs
• Advises on choices for optimal health
• Offers support and re-evaluation

What Can I Expect?
Good nutrition, specifically designed with the right combination of nutrients, plays an important and significant role in your overall sense of health and living well. Nutrition has been linked to anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. If you are dedicated to living well, include nutrition as part of your overall wholeness strategy and then you can plan to have:

• Increased energy
• Better control and reduction over mood swings
• Positive outlook
• Prevention and better management of disease, such as:
 -Hypertension
 -Obesity
 -Heart Disease
• Success in overcoming food cravings
• Greater ability to handle stress
• Lower risk of certain cancers and disease

Psychoeducation

ITC Director Jared Scherz has released new books dealing with school environments.

Special Needs Child - Did You Know?
• Federal Law—every child has a right to an effective education.
• Schools may be biased in their evaluations & plans
• Schools may not have properly trained staff
• Evaluations and meeting process is complicated
• You & your child have rights
Are you sure your children’s rights are being protected?

Education
Good and effective education for our children is not only a right but also a federal law. Our education system has been designed to serve a mainstream population and schools are challenged to ensure that all children are protected under this law. For children with special needs, schools initiate a complicated process of evaluations and meetings culminating into an individualized education plan.

Schools may be intentionally or unintentionally biased in their evaluations and recommendations by trying to align your child’s individualized education plan with services already offered in the school system instead of the actual services required.

On top of this, many parents are often overwhelmed with learning about their child’s special needs while at the same time learning the process, tackling the mounds of paperwork, and understanding not only the fact that their child has rights but what it all means. Are you sure your children’s rights are being protected?

Why Seek Services Outside of School?
Our Psychoeducation Services offer you the comfort of knowing that we are objective in our assessment of your children’s educational needs. Our focus is on your child and what is best. Our professionals know the system and can help you navigate through the process, provide support during meetings and ensure that your children’s rights are protected.
